Well, the tank is quite good. The devil damsel went back to the LFS, have a 6-line wrasse and the domino damsel, along with a small goniopora who's eating nicely, a hawaiian featherduster and a tiny star. All seem to be doing well, been really keeping an eye on levels, haven't been too far off at all, when they start to move I do a water change and everything is well again. Hmmm. Back from Memorial Day visit, tested levels on the tank aand ammonia is nothing, nitrate is between 5 and 10 ppm, and nitrites are nil.
The pH is about 8.4.
I'm at about a week on the tank. The fish store sold me some enzyme stuff which contains:
Lactobacillus species
Rhodospirillum species
Thiobacillus species
Alcaligenes species
Buffers and nutrients to maintain viable activity

OK! The tank is topped off, Ph is better and SG is pretty good, I put a couple pieces of cooked shrimp in there to rot. mmmm.
Temp is 80!!! Yea!!! It's because this house is too hot. I kind of balk at getting a chiller for a 5g tank, but I am interested in upgrading (maybe a year if things go well...)
Think I'm going to stick with FOWLR for a few months then try reef stuff. Still not certain on the definition of "invertabrates" -- do crabs and shrimp count as well as shrooms and
