i've had a freshwater tank for ove 6 years untill my kids decided to play with the heater on th tank and yank it up to the highest setting they can and i woke up one morning with all the fish floating. i already converted that into a FOWLER. my reef is a 120 gal AGA RR. i started in saltwater back in june of 2006 with a 55 gal tank after a long research and inquiries over the interne and through my friends who have reef tanks. so by June 3rd of 2006 i set up my 55 gal with LR & LS. after a week of it running and testing the water 1-2 times a day and adding calcium and alk and iodine to the tank, to my surprise my tank was cycled already but to get a second opinion i wen to my LFS and have them tested my water and they say the same thing. but i am not still satisfied and wanted to be more than a 100% possitive that it is cycle already i wen to a couple more LFS and a couple friend to test my water and they all say the same thing. so i wen home and waited another week and tested the water parameters again and it still shows a perfect balanced. so the next weekend(2 weeks after setup) went to LFS and bought 10 frags of zoas(they were on sale for 5/frag) and place it on the tank and waited. after 6 weeks(from set up) i looked at my tank and was amazed at how it went from bare to fully stocked. first fish went in after 3 weeks and it is my yellow tang when it was only 1.5 inches and have grown to 4.5 inches since then. i now have a 3 tangs, 3 clowns, 2 cardinals, 2 wrasses, lyretail, mandarin goby( i know the rule and i broke some of it). then came august, the time that i am not satisfied with the size of my tank. i went to the LFS and ordered me a 24x24x48. this is after 2 months. when i moved to the new tank, i never let the tank cycle. i took all the livestock from the old tank and place them in bucket and move the the old tank next to the new on and started moving the LR then LS then the old water then goes in the corals and the fish then added 5 gals of new water everyday till it fills up. luckily enough, i have no loss.
this is how i went from 55 to 120 in 2 months....
