My good neighbour at work has adopted a street person, told me to bring my truck over for a wash yesterday, huh? He got this guy who lives out doors, my age, shy, quiet, kinda shifty with no teeth but dosent seem to be a drunk. So my buddy gives him some money and he cleans up the yard, takes the copper wire from the dumpster and washes all the trucks, I give him a pile of copper aluminun and stainless every couple of days. The guy cant wash a truck worth poo but you know, not every body in life can cope with the day to day assault on the human spirit, whether or not what we do is helping or harming I cant say, but, it somehow seems good, lol, But for the grace of God, go I

This reminds me of when my dad used to get stuff done around our house via crackhead labor. He would pay and supervise, they would do the work, and everything was fine. Then one of them started showing up in the middle of the night with random items, such as broken TVs, in exchange for a couple bucks. This bothered my mom a bit.

So when they moved to their new house, the crackhead labor force was left behind.

Our choice to help is always a good one; what they choose to do with it is on them... Always help... always.

NIce Steve. I'm happy to see your trying to let God have control. I learned a lesson one time about helping homless people. I was asked for some money from a panhandler for food. So i decided to buy him a meal instead. This was a big mistake. All the change he had gathered was enough for either food or booze. I, not knowing it at the time, freed up his need for food. I was in Pennstation at the time waiting for my train when this went down. Well after we parted ways i went up to have a smoke and saw this guy with a beer, hanging with his pals i guess.
I never did again help a homless person. I figure the best help i can give is to pray for them.

Oh way to true on that! In BC if your on welfare they give you more if you have a dog, lol I should try that, wonder if a reef tank would qualify

Life is hard, some people just give up...others can't see the end of the road and choose an easier path...and yet others see the end and preffer to numb themselves with drugs rather than confront it.
....and then there are people who actually make a better living by begging than if they worked... those people make me smile :-D

Makes you wonder what could beat a man down so bad.

many a time I've given a few dollars to someone looking for honest work.. wether it's washing the storefront windows or sweeping the sidewalk. It's the ones that ask for money and then use it to get drugs that really bug me!
It's real life Karma steve...believe it...what goes around comes back around.
